The lowest number is not always the same job. A cheaper-looking figure can leave out the return leg, waiting time, tolls, parking, after-hours timing or GST, or quote a smaller vehicle than your group actually needs. Before you decide on price alone, put each quote on the same footing using the comparison checklist, and make sure every figure is a written, itemised quote covering the same vehicle, the same route and the same inclusions.
- The vehicle category and seating capacity being offered, so you are comparing the same size of vehicle
- Whether the driver, insurance and standard operating costs are all included in the figure quoted
- How tolls, parking, and any airport or venue access fees are treated in each quote
- Whether the quote is for one-way only or includes the return and any empty running
- How waiting time between legs is handled, and whether a minimum hire period applies
- Whether GST treatment is stated and applied on the same basis in each quote
- What the total engaged time covers, including start, finish and standby, not just the driving portion
- Whether extra stops, detours or after-hours timing would attract additional charges
- For multi-day trips, whether driver accommodation and overnight standby are included
- Whether the figure is a written, itemised quote or only a verbal estimate or guidance
