Evidence, process and accountability

Bus Safety, Accreditation and Driver Standards

This page sets out how Fox Bus manages safety and who is accountable, not a promise that nothing goes wrong. Where we hold a licence or accreditation, its number and issuing authority are shown when present or available on request, and accreditation is tied to the market it covers. We explain the systems behind drivers, vehicles and bookings, and you can ask for supporting documents before you confirm.

How to verify who you are booking with

Bus Operator Accreditation

Operator accreditation is formal recognition by a transport authority that an operator meets defined standards for safety management, maintenance and driver arrangements to run passenger services. For you, it means the operator is subject to those standards and to oversight, and that you can ask for the accreditation that applies to your service and check it with the issuing authority. Our current accreditation details are shown above when present or provided on request; we do not print a number we cannot stand behind.

Bus Operator Accreditation No. 43397

Status
Verified current

Accreditation is jurisdictional. A credential is issued by a particular authority and covers work in that market, so no single accreditation should be presented as covering all of Australia. For a service in a given state or market, we confirm the operating entity and the accreditation that applies to that work on request, rather than implying one credential covers everything.

Who Provides Your Vehicle and Driver?

Understanding who actually operates your service matters, so we are direct about it. When you book with Fox Bus, Fox Bus holds the booking relationship and is your point of contact and accountability, regardless of how the vehicle is supplied.

Direct Fox Bus service

A direct Fox Bus service means the vehicle and driver are provided under Fox Bus's own operation, subject to the accreditation, driver and maintenance systems described across these pages.

Approved partner service

For some group transport, particularly larger movements, multiple vehicles or specific dates, the service may be delivered by an approved partner operator rather than a Fox Bus vehicle. When that applies, Fox Bus remains the party you booked with and coordinates the job, and we confirm the operating entity and its accreditation for that work on request. We do not publish specific partner names, fleet numbers or credentials we cannot verify for you here; ask before you confirm and we will tell you who will operate your service.

Passenger Safety

  • Seat-belt fitment varies by vehicle and is not universal across all bus and coach types. If seat belts are a requirement for your group, tell us when you enquire and we will confirm in writing which vehicle can meet it rather than assume.
  • Boarding and alighting are planned around safe, legal stopping points. For schools, events and venues we ask for pick-up details in advance so drivers are not improvising in traffic or unsafe locations.
  • On-board conduct expectations, including remaining seated while moving where seating requires it and following driver directions, are set out in our passenger responsibilities so the driver can keep the focus on driving.

If a Vehicle or Driver Is Disrupted

  • If a vehicle develops a fault before or during a journey, the driver follows a defined process: make the vehicle safe, contact the operator, and escalate to arrange a replacement or alternative rather than continue with a vehicle that should not run.
  • If a driver becomes unavailable through illness or fatigue rules, the booking is reassigned where an accredited driver and suitable vehicle can be arranged; we tell you promptly if timing is affected rather than leave you waiting.
  • We plan contactability into every booking so that on the day there is a number that reaches someone who can act, 1300 161 646, rather than an unattended line. We describe a process here, not a guarantee that every disruption can be fully absorbed.

Incidents and Complaints

  • If an incident occurs, the driver's first duty is passenger safety and any required notification; details are recorded so the event can be reviewed rather than forgotten.
  • Complaints can be raised on 1300 161 646 or in writing. We acknowledge the complaint, identify who is responsible for looking into it, and respond with what we found and what we will do.
  • Where a partner operator delivered the service, Fox Bus stays the point of accountability for handling your complaint and coordinates with the operator on your behalf.

Your Privacy

  • We collect only the booking information needed to quote and run your service, such as contact details, dates, pick-up points and passenger numbers, and we use it to deliver and support that booking.
  • You can ask how your information is held, request a copy, or ask us to correct it by contacting us on 1300 161 646; our full handling and contact point are set out in our privacy summary.

Request Safety Documents

Before you confirm a booking you can request supporting documents so your decision rests on evidence, not description. Depending on your service this can include the operating entity's accreditation details for your market, confirmation of insurance cover, and confirmation of driver authority for the work. We provide what applies to your booking on request; values are shown only once confirmed by the operator, and any item still to be verified is flagged rather than asserted. Call 1300 161 646 or ask in writing.

Safety and Trust Questions

Can't find it? Call 1300 161 646.

Can I see proof of your accreditation and insurance before I book?

Yes. You can request the operating entity's accreditation details for your market and confirmation of insurance cover before you confirm. These are provided on request and shown here only when confirmed by the business, so you are reading verified information rather than a claim.

Who is responsible if I book with Fox Bus but a partner operates the trip?

Fox Bus. You booked with Fox Bus, so Fox Bus is your point of contact, coordinates the service and handles any complaint, even when an approved partner operator supplies the vehicle. We confirm who will operate your service on request before you confirm.

Do your buses have seat belts?

It depends on the vehicle, because seat-belt fitment varies across bus and coach types and is not universal. If seat belts are a requirement for your group, tell us when you enquire and we will confirm in writing which vehicle meets that need.

What happens if the bus breaks down on the day?

The driver makes the vehicle safe, contacts the operator and escalates to arrange a replacement or alternative. There is a staffed number, 1300 161 646, that reaches someone who can act. We describe the process we follow rather than promise disruption never happens.

How do I make a complaint and what happens next?

Call 1300 161 646 or write to us. We acknowledge it, assign who is responsible for reviewing it, and respond with what we found and what we will do. If a partner operated the service, Fox Bus still owns the response.
